Who sent the thugs? Sowore attacked in Ado-Ekiti as ADC governorship candidate's convoy is hit in Sokoto
AAC presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore says about 20 men attacked him at a restaurant in Ado-Ekiti; police first called it an altercation, then confirmed the attack and arrested 11. The same night, ADC Sokoto governorship candidate Manir Dan'iya says his convoy was attacked. Atiku demands a transparent probe.

Ekiti (30 Oct): Sowore says about 20 men armed with sticks and bottles attacked him and his team at a restaurant in Ado-Ekiti: “They beat me like a criminal, threatened to kill me.” He and others were treated and discharged.
The police account: Ekiti police first said Sowore was not kidnapped, as some posts claimed, and described an “altercation”, before confirming the attack. Police have arrested 11 suspects and have not said who, if anyone, was behind it.
Sowore's claims: he alleges the Ekiti State Government sponsored the attack, that DSS operatives assisted, and that police and DSS seized the restaurant's CCTV footage. These are allegations; the state government and the DSS had not responded at the time of reporting.
Sokoto: ADC governorship candidate Manir Muhammad Dan'iya says his convoy was attacked at about 9pm on Friday near the Sultan Abubakar III International Airport, after escorting former Governor Aminu Tambuwal. He blames personnel of the Sokoto Marshal and the State Community Guard Corps, who had not responded.
Atiku's response (31 Oct): the ADC presidential candidate condemned both attacks, called for transparent investigations and urged President Tinubu to restrain his supporters. Two days earlier, APC supporters were attacked on the way to a rally in Katsina. The APC had not responded to Atiku at the time of writing.
